Historical background to Nin
Nin was one of the main settlements of the Liburnians until the arrival of the Roman conquerors. Since then the proud Municipium named Aenona. It is the oldest town, the residence of the Croatian kings. It was a very important harbour in those centuries. Two devastations and destructions of Nin caused the complete abandon and desertion of the town by its population ( in 1571 and in 1646). Today, the town has about 1700 inhabitants. The small town on the island is an attraction for tourists, especially because of its in heritage, beautiful sandy beaches, healing peloid and a modern tourist resort .
